Why Ride with Us?

The Eyabantwana Border 1000 Cycle Race is not just a race; it’s a powerful tribute to Andrew Wienand, a beloved member of the Grandads Army and a passionate supporter of the Eyabantwana Trust. Andrew’s tragic loss in a hit-and-run accident while training with fellow cyclists reminds us of the importance of road safety for all road users.

The Eyabantwana Trust, a local non-profit organization, has dedicated its efforts to support the East London Department of Paediatric Surgery. By purchasing essential surgical equipment and providing training for medical staff, the trust enhances the level of care given to young patients at Frere and Cecilia Makitwane Hospitals.

Over the past nine years, the Grandads Army has been an invaluable partner, helping the Eyabantwana Trust raise over 3 million in funds. Now, the Border 1000 Cycle Race stands as a symbol of remembrance and a safety reminder for all road users to share the road responsibly.

Join Us and Make a Difference:

Whether you’re an experienced cyclist seeking a challenging ride or a family looking for a fun day out, the Eyabantwana Border 1000 Cycle Race welcomes riders of all levels to participate. Together, we can make a positive impact on our community and honor the memory of Andrew Wienand.

Register now, mark your calendar for November 5th, and get ready for an unforgettable day of cycling, camaraderie, and community support. Let’s ride for a cause and promote road safety, ensuring that our roads are safe for all.
