Last day of the Second Rob Burton Memorial Ride – 11 Dec 2016
The Winelands, Wheat fields and Ocean tour
Saturday was a rest day and 3 of the cyclists did the Jailbreak Triathlon (1,3km Swim 42km Road bike 9km Trail run), several did the 5km parkrun, some went hiking and some went rock climbing.
Sunday the 11th December, Grandads Army started the Winelands, Wheat fields and Ocean Tour, a 85 km cycle past vineyards, wheat fields and with a view of the Indian ocean at the end. The weather was perfect and the scenery exquisite.
We all had lunch at the Root 44 Market at Audacia Farm with a prize giving. The Arthur Salzwedel King of the Mountain Challenge trophy was handed over to Mike and Wayne Salzwedel and several other prizes were handed out.
On Monday most of Grandads Army will be making their way back to East London to start their life again.
It was a fantastic experience and please remember why Grandads Army did the Second Rob Burton Memorial Ride. It is all to raise money for the Eyabantwana, For the Children Trust, to improve the care of the little burn victims in and around East London.
If you have donated already, thank you very much for your support and we hope that you will remember the Trust in the future. If you haven’t donated yet, please consider doing so, even if it is a small amount. Every penny counts. All donations qualify for a Tax certificate on request.
Grandads Army, the Eyabantwana, For the Children Trust and the children of the Eastern Cape thank you!!
