Return to The First Rob Burton Memorial Ride: What is it all about?

The Route

Grandads army is doing a 1160 km relay cycle from East London to Stellenbosch over 4 days, starting on Tuesday 24 November 2015 and arriving in Stellenbosch on Friday 27 November.

The planned first day ride is from East London to Middelburg, via Queenstown and Steynsburg.
The second day is from Middelburg to Keurfontein (Willowmore) via Graaff-Reinet.
The third day will be from Keurfontein to Barrydale via Oudtshoorn, Calitzdorp and the Huisrivier Pass.
The fourth day’s ride is from Barrydale to Stellenbosch, via Worcester, Tulbagh and Wellington.

Each leg will be just under 300 km’s long. Grandads Army will be divided into three teams and each team will ride 100 km’s per day for each of the 4 days.
A course through the Karoo has been chosen with cycle safety in mind. The cyclists will ride 1160 of the 1296 km course, the remaining distance not being really safe for cycling.

After a day’s rest, the cyclists will ride the 95km Stellenbosch Cycle Tour on Sunday 29November.
