Colin Lazarus

Dr Colin Lazarus

Associate Professor and Consultant Surgeon

Dr Lazarus is a founding member of the Department of Paediatric Surgery.

He trained in paediatric surgery at The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town and at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow. Since 1995 he has been a principle advocate for children’s surgery in the Eastern Cape.

He has made laparoscopic surgery and paediatric urology important aspects of the scope of practice at the ELHC.


Specialist Training

The Department of Paediatric Surgery is fully accredited for training prospective surgeons. The training program which comprehensive and covers all aspects of paediatric surgery, runs over 5 years. There are opportunities to rotate through paediatric and neonatal intensive care, oncology and urology.
