General Paediatric Surgery



We deal with most of the common general paediatric surgical condition, both congenital and acquired.

Many of the operations are done as laparo-endoscopic procedures.

General paediatric surgery operations are performed at both Cecilia Makiwane and Frere Hospital. However most after hours work is done at Frere Hospital.

The scope of surgery includes:

Salivary Gland Lesions
Gastro-Esophageal Reflux
Corrosive Esophageal injury
Intestinal + colonic Polyps
Malrotation and volvulus of the gut
Hirschsprung’s Disease and myopathic conditions of the colon

Vascular Anomalies

Lymphatic Malformations
Arterial malformations (haemangiomas)
Arteriovenous malformations
